Media Records was one of the scene leaders and one of the most successful Euro Dance labels at the time that still has many fans all over the world. During the 1990’s Media found huge success across the UK and Europe with the 49ers, Capella, Anticapella, Clock, Sharada House Gang, East Side Beat, R.A.F. and many more. The singles sold in their millions and the aritsts were released on Island, London Records, RCA to name a few. Some of these releases feature prominently on these high selling albums currently topping the UK Compilation Charts.

However, many of Media Record’s biggest club classics and crossover hits are frequently overlooked for such albums and so we have compiled our own project of full force 90s anthems for this 2 DJ Mix, 24 track snapshot of that incredible era. As well as featuing the cream of the hits (7 UK top 10’s) including East Side Beat’s No. 3 UK chart hit, “Ride Like The Wind”. To celebrate Jonathan’s return to the White Isle and the beginning of the 2009 Ibiza season Big In Ibiza and Jonathan present the latest in their ever successful ‘Ibiza Opening Party’ mix series.

Ibiza opening party 2009 exclusively features Jonathan’s newest production, ‘Time’, created with studio partner Peter Brown. The mix also features another 13 Ibiza Anthems, exclusive to this compilation, and which are sure to be big smashes over the forthcoming season. Including Filip Le Frick’s remix of Brazen, ‘What’s Love’ and Big In Ibiza’s Tribal take on Charlotte Narni’s ‘Fucking With The DJ’. Fonzerelli also presents his newest piece in the form of ‘Dreamin’’, alongside Tim Andresen’s ‘Do Your Thang’ and the Filthy Rich rework of the classic Fargetta anthem ‘Music Is Movin’. Another classic to feature is the 2009 rework of BK’s Revolution (the last ever vinyl only release to reach the UK top 40). The mix also features releases from some of dance’s fastest rising stars in three tracks from Chris MiMo and another from Love Assassins. All still upfront these tracks are sure to hit high in the Cool Cuts, Buzz and Club Charts this summer.

Having recently blown away clubbers at our latest Big In Ibiza event, Cut & Splice’s bootleg sets are an obvious winner with dance music fans, providing them with a fresh take on their favourite records. With the album encapsulating everything Cut & Splice’s live show is about, they have selected a few of the biggest tracks in their record box. Mixing club smashes from Tom Neville’s “Just Fuck” to Danielle Papini “Church Of Nonsense” and Deepgroove “Jus Luv Bass”, with dance classics from Mauro Picotto, CRW and Howard Jones.

Opening with a bootlegged up version of The Wideboys, Fonzerelli, 49ers and Chocolate Party, Cut & Splice immediately set the tone for the rest of the compilation which also includes top 20 records from the likes of Clock and Cappella, as well as music from legends such as Tito Puente Jnr’s “Oye Como Va”.. This summer saw Fonzerelli’s “Dreamin’ (Of A Hot Summers Night)” gain support from the worlds biggest DJs as well as from Radio 1, Kiss FM, playlisting on Ministry Of Sound Radio and Gaydar, and video plays on Flaunt, The Chart Show, and MTV Dance. MRK1 began making dnb before progressing into Dubstep/Grime and being responsible for some of its first releases growing the dubstep sound that is now the hottest emerging scene on the planet. This was one of the key releases that propelled the dubstep/grime sound into media for the first time. This followed releases on Tempa, Soulja, Vehicle, Rephlex, Polydor, Wall of Sound, Texture, Techonic, Earwax, Terra Rhythm to name a few has seen MRK1 become one of the leading producers in this genre. MRK1 has also released two full-length albums on Planet Mu, “One Way” and “Copyright Law”, and produced The Virus Syndicate’s last two albums also on Planet Mu selling over 50,000 copies, “The Work Related Illness” and “Sick Pay”.
