Each year to celebrate Jonathan Ulysses’s return to the White Isle and the beginning of the Ibiza season Big In Ibiza and Jonathan present their hottest new anthems on the successful ‘Ibiza Opening Party’ album series, mixed and compiled by Mr Ulybug himself. Starting in 2006 this series immediately made it’s mark hitting number 1 in the iTunes UK Dance Album Chart and is now in it’s fifth successful season. Groundbreaking and bursting with innovation, DJ and producer Jonathan Ulysses has a deep and diverse career which spans over 15 years. This heavy weight and legendary DJ is a force to be reckoned with. With a 10 year residency under his belt at Ibiza’s prestigious super-club Space, his trademark up tempo, driving, electronic, pumping house style sees him spinning week in, week out at the worlds leading clubs. DJ appearances on every continent have given Jonathan a huge global and truly loyal fan base. He now sits comfortably and quite rightly amongst dance music’s most elite DJs. He is no stranger to radio and has been featured doing mixes for Pete Tong’s Radio One Essential Selection and also an interview conducting an experience of Ibiza. He has made countless appearances on Kiss 100, Ministry of Sound, Galaxy and Solar. His mixes have featured on numerous radio stations around the world.
Jon has compiled copious compilations working with high tech labels including Ministry, UMM, Big In Ibiza, Destined, DJ Center and Klubstar to name a few. He has mixed on every ‘In Bed With Space’ compilation for the last 8 years; ‘Clubbers Guide to Ibiza 2007’ in association with Ministry of Sound; ‘Ibiza Opening Party’ released exclusively through i-tunes and UMM; and ‘Gateway to Ibiza’ in association with MTV. He has also mixed three of the highly acclaimed Space, Ibiza Dance compilations. 2008 saw the launch of his uber cool ‘Ulybug’ brand. A beetle logo with stylus for arms, he kicked off with a clothing range that took Ibiza by storm.
Jon now hosts his trademark ‘Ulybug’ parties in clubs around the world with parties held at La Roca, Belgium, Herbal, London, Chi, Dubai, Byblos, Glasgow, Mynt Belfast and Pacha, Munich. 2009 plans include the launch of a ‘Ulybug’ music label. Jon’s ambitions of course lie beyond the confines of just clubs and production consumes a huge slice of his time. As his track list expands weekly, he distributes his talents in studios worldwide, working with top notch producers including Tom Neville, Prok & Fitch, Matt Schwartz (Destined), Peter Brown, Juan Kidd, Richard Grey and Filthy Rich. He has had releases on Oxyd, UMM, Destined, Arts n Krafts, Lowered Recordings, Cyber, Nukluez and Azuli.
Jon plays regularly for ‘Space on Tour’ spinning in clubs such as Fabrik, Madrid and Fire, London. He works alongside top drawer promoters such as Salvacion, Kissdafunk, Hat Club, Matinee, Kinky Malinki and Cream, and has appeared at Billboard and Club Space at Miami’s Winter Music Conference. He also plays for the infamous ‘In Bed With Space World Tour’ parties. Recent highlights include Jon’s highly acclaimed tour taking in Australia, Bahrain, Dubai, Bali, Singapore, South Korea and New Zealand where he saw in New Years Eve 2009 headlining the High Life festival in Auckland to a frenzied crowd of 10,000 fans, then moving onto Sao Paolo, Brazil playing for the MOB boat party as featured in DJ Magazine. He has also rocked international festivals such as Love Parade in Berlin and back on home turf Gatecrasher Festival, Colorfest and Home Coming in Glasgow, Scotland.
